A City

city-square.jpg

A City is a site-specific installation performed in a gallery as a living diorama/tableaux vivant. It is an intimate, personal study of four artists/friends, who tell the story of a friend who died under mysterious circumstances, and how his death, and his life, transformed them. The story is revealed through direct address in a disarmingly casual atmosphere, as if the audience were eavesdropping on a personal conversation.

Based on members of a real indie theatre company in Montreal, the piece is created from documented stories, recorded text, confessional monologues and fictional writing. A City is an intimate, painfully funny testament to a time and place. It is about the end of a friendship. It is about the fall of a civilization.

Hedda Gabler

How did we get here?

The world is full of crazy people doing extreme things. We try to find a reason, the root of the action. Many events, though, take us completely by surprise. Something happens that is so unexpected and incongruous that it threatens to turn our world upside down. Whether we are the doer or the done-to everything shifts in that moment.

There is an epidemic of blindness in our society. Do we choose what we see? Can we arrive in adulthood not knowing how we got there? The decision to stay in the dream or open our eyes to the terror of an unknown path is at the core of Hedda Gabler.

All But Gone

Opera and absurdist theatre come together in All But Gone: A Beckett Rhapsody, a groundbreaking musical exploration of the short plays of Samuel Beckett. Helmed by director Jennifer Tarver (Venus in Fur, Beckett: Feck It!) and featuring performers Jonathon Young (Betroffenheit) and Paul Fauteux alongside opera stars Shannon Mercer and Krisztina Szabó, All But Gone is a mesmerizing take on one of the most influential playwrights of the 20th century.
